I have been sitting here, trying to figure out how to approach the topic of minimalism. See, chewed on pencil above... In all of the research I have done, for my own interest, the one thing I have found out about minimalism in regards to a lifestyle is that it means many different things to many different people. These guys from theminimalists.com say it the best: Minimalism is a lifestyle that helps people question what things add value to their lives. By clearing the clutter from life’s path, we can all make room for the most important aspects of life: health, relationships, passion, growth, and contribution. Well, I couldn't have said it better myself. So, what do we take from this?
• A Minimalist Lifestyle questions the value that things add to their life. • Getting rid of things that add clutter will make room for more that matters. • The concept of a Minimalist Lifestyle adapts to you and your values. It will be different for everyone. • All paths lead to the same result: A life with more time, more $$$, and more freedom to live a meaningful life. How wonderful. Do you want any of those things? I know I do, and that is why this journey has begun. ---------------------------------Some questions to ask yourself for next time: --------------------------------------- 1. How would your life be better if you owned less? 2. What are your thoughts on the culture of consumerism? 3. What would you do with more free time? And where is your time spent now? Make a pie chart! 4. How can you make your life more purposeful/meaningful (not saying that you aren't! just something to think about :) ) 5. What do you need to make room for in your life? I will answer those questions in the next post. Cheers, M. Start blogging by creating a new post. You can edit or delete me by clicking under the comments.
